Has anyone seen the real ESNTrain?

News: So, 40 participants in Bratislava did not see the ESNTrain.
Dear Bernhard Jaeggle, would you be so kind to post a number of photos of the ESNTrain at Bratislava Nové Mesto, taken on the day of its intended departure!
Why didn't you care for the participants who were stranded at Bratislava Petrzalka station? It was just 4 miles away from the ESNTrain.

According to my information the real ESNTrain was standing in the rail yard at Bratislava Nové Mesto train station. However, no engine really picked up the train there, because ÖBB/ZSSK withdrew their commitment.

Has anyone of you - participants - seen the train there? Bratislava Nové Mesto is not Bratislava Main station (hlavna stanica) or Bratislava Petrzalka.
Was anyone coming from Hungary to join ESNTrain at Bratislava Petrzalka? All trains from Hungary, which travel through Györ, travel also via Bratislava Nové Mesto train station. Maybe you've seen the train there?

  1. i was in bratislava and 3 hours prior to departure, i got this email telling me that the whole trip was cancelled.. i headed to the trainstaion at around 7.30am anyway and have met with the other participants. we were stranded in the train station not knowing what to do and have been told to wait until 5.00pm for further details. there were no activities planned for us while we sat there unsure of what to do next. we checked out the platform and we haven't seen the ESNtrain anywhere. we even searched around for it since someone informed us that it was already there. a lady from bratislava train station approached us and told us that they didn't get any information about the ESNtrain's scheduled arrival for that day. (this seem a bit odd since the information provided to us by ESN about the ESNtrain being there doesn't quite fit with what's being announced by the bratislavan station personnel)

our group decided to store our luggages at one of the participant's house who happen to be from bratislava and have decided to explore the city altogether while waiting for more information. we got an ESN mobilenumber hotline and i have called it a couple of times to check for updates. at around 13.00pm i called the number again and have been given a new hotline number that would work from 15.00pm onwards. it turns out that it was a private mobilenumber of a boardmember from ESN austria. i asked them the status of the ESNtrain and they couldn't provide us with any other information except that there were also a group stranded in vienna.

it was a chaotic day and you couldn't imagine how frustrating it was to be kept in the dark not knowing whats gonna happen next.

but to answer the question... NO! THE ESNtrain WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. i was there with 40 other people and none of us have seen it!

ps. thank you so much for starting this blog! at least im getting some clarity on certain things regarding this mess.

  2. After reading your story, I was really shocked.
You were all at Bratislava Petrzalka station? The ESNTrain was assumingly at Bratislava Nové Mesto station, which is on the other side of the Danube river.

What I do not understand: Why did no ESNTrain organizer drove down to Bratislava Petrzalka station to tell participants what was really going on? I mean, we all know by now that ÖBB has withdrawn their commitment on Friday. That was one full day before you guys were stranded at Bratislava Petrzalka station.

I mean the ESNTrain could have told to go to Bratislava Nové Mesto station to at least enter the ESNTrain up there. We know, no engine picked the ESNTrain up, but the ESNTrain people could have at least seated the stranded participants in the train.

  3. I'd like to say that i've been there with Christia and i agree with everything she said. I also think that it is really ridiculous that the ESN Train team came to Petrzalka at 8:00 when the train would already be on the way. They should have been waiting there for us since 6!!!
